As well as serving individuals with developmental disabilities, Supported Employment now helps individuals with learning, psychiatric and orthopedic disabilities as well as those who have acquired brain injuries, are blind or are visually impaired. In the group setting, full time
training and support are provided by the job coach. In the individual
placement setting, initial training is provided. Support and job coach
assistance are provided on an ongoing basis. The goal of the Supported
Employment Program is to provide services needed to enable clients to
improve community to work independence; and enable them to obtain and
retain employment in the community. Supported Employment sites include;
car dealerships, parks, beaches, offices, grocery stores, manufacturing
companies, a surgical equipment company, hardware companies, and the school
district central kitchen. These businesses benefit by having competent,
dependable and well-trained employees.
